SPRING SPRUCE UP AT HARPSWELL’S MERRICONEAG GRANGE

SPRING SPRUCE UP AT HARPSWELL’S MERRICONEAG GRANGE

On Saturday April 17, the interior of the 103-year old Harpswell Grange Hall got a thorough makeover by members of the Grange, the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Worthy Master Samuel “Chuck” Alexander led the painting crew of daughter Madison, a 6th grader at Mt. Ararat Middle School, Richard Collins, David I. Chipman, and ALA Unit 171 members Paige Caulfield and Sherie Sprague. Janis Morrell, assisted by Dan Boland, led the renewal of storage areas. Each space was completely emptied, outdated items recycled when possible, and then restocked.

Anne and Gary Anderson, Marguerite Emerson, Tina Kopenhaver, Dan MacMahon and Shirley Thompson meticulously took apart, cleaned and lovingly reassembled three dozen framed photos of Grange history.

Nelson Moody installed grommets on event signs in order to prevent recurring damage when hung on the new signpost made by Sam Alexander Sr.

Lunch break featured Anne Anderson’s seafood chowder and baked beans. Shirley Thompson’s brownies, Madison Alexander’s frosted sheet cake and beverages helped renew energy levels.
